The edition

The Adam Times is a static newspaper generated on one machine in Massachusetts. Every edition is a set of plain HTML files with no server behind them. This issue is Vol. 1 No. 4, built from 291 stories pulled from 12 of 9 configured feeds at 06:30 Eastern, Friday, September 25, 2026.

How stories are ranked

The ranker in this edition was keywords. Each story starts from the score its own source gave it, then gains weight for appearing in more than one feed, for being recent rather than merely popular, and for matching the vocabulary of the four desks: homelab, AI, hardware and security. The three highest-scoring stories across all desks become the front page; each desk keeps its own ordered list. No story is written or rewritten here: the headline, the summary and the link are reproduced as the source published them, and nothing on this page is original reporting.

The thumbs

Every headline is a link, and every link that gets opened is a vote. A thumbs-up moves a source’s weight up for the next sweep; a thumbs-down moves it down and suppresses the topic for a day. The feedback file lives beside the edition on the same disk. It is never sent anywhere.

The design system, in eight lines

Five equal columns, 21px gutters, Van de Graaf margins in the ratio 2:3:4:6.
One type scale built on phi: 15, 24, 39, 63, 102 pixels.
Spacing comes only from the Fibonacci set 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89.
Every line-height is a multiple of the 6px baseline grid.
Hierarchy is made of hairline rules, not boxes, cards or shadows.
Paper is #f4efe4, ink is #141414, and the one red is reserved for alerts.
Blackletter appears exactly once, in the nameplate.
Photographs are documentary: 78% saturation, a 1px keyline, no duotone.

No tracking

There is no analytics script, no cookie, no beacon, no font CDN and no third-party request of any kind. The typefaces are served from this directory. The only bytes that leave your browser are the ones you ask for by following a story link, and those go straight to the publisher.
